What is the RehaHub?
The Vision
The Rehab Hub is an important step towards the development of an Austrian competence centre for rehabilitation research at the research site Salzburg. It aims to be a hub for the Austria-wide stakeholder network, offering its resources and competences, supporting the further development of innovative and patient-centred rehabilitation approaches. The RehaHub stakeholders generate rehabilitation research services for the disciplines of human medicine and health sciences and offer themselves as a national and international contact point for rehabilitation research.
The Mission
This mission includes the creation of a research network to condense the competences of the Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft (LBG) in rehabilitation research. This network should be needs- and impact-orientated and address current problems and challenges of the entire rehabilitation ecosystem.
The Goal
We want to contribute to accessible, evidence-based, socio-economically beneficial and personalised rehabilitation in Austria with research that has an impact on care.
From Vision to Reality
Background and Motivation
- The growing importance of rehabilitation in society, particularly in view of an ageing population and increasingly lifestyle-associated health problems.
- The need to improve the scientific basis and implementation of innovative research in the field of rehabilitation.
- The potential to achieve socio-economic benefits and optimise healthcare through evidence-based rehabilitation.
Participating institutions
- The Province of Salzburg as funding body and part of the project ownership, which supports the development of Salzburg as a model region.
- The Ludwig Boltzmann Gesellschaft (LBG) as project organiser, contributing with the expertise of three Ludwig Boltzmann Institutes active in rehabilitation research.
- Ludwig Boltzmann Institutes (LBI): LBI for Rehabilitation Research, LBI for Arthritis and Rehabilitation, LBI for Digital Health and Prevention. Each institute contributes specific expertise, partner networks and research interests to the RehaHub.
Goal Setting
The common goal of the RehaHub cooperation and network partners is to establish a networking platform for rehabilitation research in Salzburg in order to further develop rehabilitation research in an interdisciplinary manner and to effectively implement its results in healthcare.
In a structured process and through the cooperation of various stakeholders, the RehaHub project was created in response to the growing need for coordinated and innovative rehabilitation research in Austria.
